Salalah Port (Port of Salalah)
Port of Salalah is the 6th most productive transhipment port globally, also baded on the Work Shipping Council data, it is the 5th largetst congtainer port in the Middle East and th e39th largest container port in investing and expanding its operations.
The capacities and capabilities of maritime gateways at Salalah, Sohar and Duqm are being suitably augmented to assist and attain demand growth at the respective hubs and allign them with the government’s overal vision to promulgate the gro wth of the logistics-centric economy in Oman. Salalah Port has recently added a new General Cargo and Liquid Terminal to its expansive transhipment capabilities which was included in Salalah Port’s master plan and expected implementation during 2013-2020. Inclusive of the expansion master plan is a tank farm, warehouseing and a cruise terminal.
One of the strategic goals of Port of Salalah is to encourage companies to add value to impoorted bulk and break bulk product to gene4rate addiional re-export business for the terminals.
Consensually, Salalah Free Zone, located at the port, announced plans to seek $15billion in investments by 2028.
Port of Salalah ranked in the world arena of transhipment and logistics hub among the top 30 container ports in the world. Owned and managed by Salalah Port Services (SPS) a publicly traded company that includes the Government of Oman as a key shareholders and has aligned with Oman Global Logistics who is the development arm of the government for development and creating major growth opportunities so that the logistics secgtor, most notably an SME such as Salalah Logistics will also elevate its contribution to the GDP of Oman.
The hub is operated by APM Terminals, one of the worlds largest container and terminal operators which also has a stake in the company.
